Tilghman Orthodontics - The Road to a Healthy Smile Should Start Early
We all know there are certain preventative measures we can take to better our lives.
For instance, saving money to have a financial cushion in case of emergencies, eat healthy and exercise, and visit the dentist on a regular basis.
Our friends at Tilghman Orthodontics in Salisbury, Md., tell us how important it is to also visit an orthodontist. Our team recently stopped by Tilghman Orthodontics to find out how taking early steps as a child, can ensure a healthy smile years down the road.
Dr. Michael Tilghman says he likes to see children by age seven.
“There’s a time in development where we can intervene before some things happen that can have a greater impact later on,” Dr. Tilghman says.
Consultations are free. In fact, Dr. Tilghman says he sees a lot of young patients for free long before they are at a point where they would need work done.
“There’s time when we follow children for three or four years at no cost,” Dr. Tilghman says. “We’ll see them every six months because it’s really important that we monitor these things to help minimize what is going to happen later because we want the children to be in the braces the shortest amount of time possible and we want to the cost to be minimal for the parent.”
Dr. Carrie Schwartz reminds us that orthodontics is not limited to children. Dr. Schwarz says she sees many adult patients who seek orthodontist treatment to get the smile they’ve always wanted.
