2015 White Marlin Open – Days 1 & 2
The 42nd year of the White Marlin Tournament gets underway in Ocean City, Md., and Andrew and Capt. Willie are on board. Lines went out at 8:30 a.m. and it wasn’t long before the first White Marlin was spotted. Around noon, the rain started but that didn’t stop the men from bringing in a fish up to the boat. The White Marlin wasn’t big enough to make it, so they let it go, but the crew was excited for two more days of fishing.
The scales open and boats start bringing their fish in to be weighed. After the first day, the ‘Reel Direct’ brought a White Marlin to be weighed in, but it did not meet the 70 lb. weight minimum weighing only 68 lbs. The next boat to come in to the scales is ‘Goin’ in Deep’ from Fort Lauderdale, Fl. and they have a Blue Marlin on board that weighed 551 lbs. ‘Rumor Has It’ from Chincoteague, Va. brings in a tuna at 177 lbs. which puts it in first place for the tuna category.
Despite the nice weather, it was very rough on the water for day 2 of the White Marlin Open. Only 5 out of 307 boats went fishing on day 2.
