Community Health and Safety Day
September 18 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm| Free
On Saturday, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m. to noon, the Greenwood Library invites the community to its very first Community Health & Safety Day. This event is completely free and offers activities and information for all ages.
Kids can borrow bikes and helmets to take part in DelDOT’s bike rodeo, check out fire trucks and police cars, and get their face painted. The Greenwood Police Department will also be offering car seat safety checks. Dental screenings will be available for all ages, and pre-registration is strongly advised through the Greenwood Public Library. Sussex EMS will demonstrate CPR and Stop the Bleed techniques throughout the event. Other medical screenings will be available, including Covid tests and vaccines. There will be giveaways and information about fall prevention, early literacy, educational opportunities for middle and high school students, home energy savings, Delaware Emergency Management, and much more. Free hot dogs and water will be provided.
The library’s parking lots and Mill Street will be closed to make this event possible, but other parking is available on surrounding streets nearby. Activities will take place mostly outside, with some, like the medical screenings, dental screenings and face painting, taking place in the library as well.
If you are already planning to attend the Milford River Walk Freedom Festival, or Southern Delaware Wine, Food and Music Festival that day, why not drop by this free event to discover wonderful resources and services designed to support your family’s health and safety?
