The organization encourages players to bring in their own chess sets and clocks. First, second, and third place winners will receive awards.
Ken Milutin, member of the Salisbury Chess Club, said that this event will be a great opportunity for anyone to join in and test their skills.
“Our youth club has grown quite a bit over the past few years and we now have around 90 members playing weekly,” Milutin said.
The club welcomes new members, and is bustling with those ready to learn the game, or try their hand against long-time players.
The Salisbury Chess Club is open to both youth and adults, with the youth meeting Fridays from 5-10 p.m., and the adult league meeting on Wednesdays from 5-10 p.m.. There is no fee to join. Beginners are welcome: just come out to the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center on the corresponding night and enjoy.
Registration for the tournament is available at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center Box Office (500 Glen Ave., Salisbury; Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.) or online at www.WicomicoRecandParks.org.
