What’s Happening Today – September 4, 2018
Today on DelmarvaLife:
Marie Curie, Sally Ride, Katherine Johnson – do you know what these women all have in common? They dedicated their lives to science and made significant advances. There have been many more incredible, inspiring and super cool women in science. In fact, Sara MacSorley, of Cambridge, is one of them. She’s on a mission to spotlight women in STEM careers, and she’s doing it with a story and coloring book series called “Super Cool Scientists.” We’ll find out what motivated her to be a champion for inclusion in science and engineering fields.
When it comes to our vehicles, it’s easy to hear the word “recall” and freak out. Even though there’s probably a good reason why it’s on recall, there is no reason to get up in arms. DelmarvaLife’s Sydney Whitfield stopped by Hertrich Chevrolet of Salisbury to investigate how easy it is to get to the root of the issue. She says that once you do that, you’ll be back on the road in no time.
Sometimes, it’s nice to keep the car in the driveway and set out on two wheels. We’ll tell you about the perfect opportunity to cycle the scenic routes of Amish Country. All you have to do is participate in Delaware’s 32nd annual Amish Country Bike Tour. Oh, and bonus…there’s pie!
Have you ever known someone who touched every part of your life? Have you loved someone across time and distance? That sounds like the beginning of a great love story. It is, and you have the opportunity to see it, and help in the fight to cure cancer. We’ll learn more about the Lower Shore Performing Arts Company‘s (LSPAC) production of “Love Letters,” and hear how it supports Relay for Life in Wicomico County, thanks to a partnership between LSPAC and Avery Hall Insurance.
With all the little shops and stores on Delmarva, sometimes it’s fun to go on a treasure hunt. And, if unique treasures are something you’re looking for, then you’ll want to make your way to Fenwick Island. That’s where you’ll find Sasha’s Jewels. Lisa stopped by and was able to find a store full of those unique treasures, including a beautiful selection of the very rare Uvarovite Garnet.
Spreading happiness and positive vibes has proven to be a winning formula for Schell Brothers. Find out how that company is extending its reach throughout Delmarva and beyond, with “Project Kudos.” You’ll also hear how you can get involved in this fun, feel-good movement.
