What’s Happening Today – September 26, 2018
Today on DelmarvaLife:
We admire and appreciate the many men and women on Delmarva who volunteer to step into harm’s way to protect others. Today we’re bringing a few local firefighters into the spotlight. Lewes Fire Captain Chris Colpo, Firefighter Dwayne Newnam with the Smyrna Fire Department, and Training Administrator Tucker Dempsey with the Delaware State Fire School. They were part of a team that recently lent a helping hand to the families dealing with the damage left behind by Hurricane Florence in Morehead City, North Carolina. We’ll hear their stories and learn how they quickly became a part of the Morehead City community through their efforts.
New changes for the Salisbury Regional Airport are underway! DelmarvaLife’s Sydney Whitfield speaks with airport manager Dawn Veatch to learn about the airport’s new features and what travelers can expect before the end of the year.
One Year To Empowerment is a program that offers twelve activities that serve to empower young ladies. Executive Director Dr. Samantha Scott and former “Empoweree” Eshani Baral join us in the studio to give us an overview and explain how you can get involved.
We are just a little more than a week away from the Sea Gull Century. It’s a ride that offers a challenge, while allowing participants to take in some of the beauty of Delmarva. We sent 102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus to Salisbury Cycle to get the scoop on this one-of-a-kind ride.
Chef Tracy Owes from The Big Easy on 60 in Ocean City is here making BBQ Shrimp and Ribs with fried mac and cheese, and flash-fried green beans.
