It’s National Scrapple Day. It is traditionally a mush of pork scraps and trimmings combined with cornmeal, wheat flour and spices. It’s also known by the Pennsylvania Dutch name “pon haus.” Scrapple dates back to the 17th century and was created by Dutch colonists who settled near Philadelphia and Chester County, Pennsylvania. Kirby and Holloway has been making scrapple since 1947.
We celebrate a “cancerversary” today. Salisbury’s Deena Cook recently marked five years of being cancer-free. She was diagnosed with lung cancer twice. Now, she works to educate and advocate with the Lung Cancer Alliance.
Salisbury Maryland Kennel Club instructor Karen Cottingham invites everyone to the Eastern Shore Classic Dog Shows at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center. The Talbot County Kennel Club, Salisbury Maryland Kennel Club and Mispillion Kennel Club have joined forces to bring you five days of dog shows in one location. The Eastern Shore Classic is open to the public. Daily admission is $5 for adults, $1 for students. Children under 5 are admitted free. Tickets are available at the door.
The Rehoboth Beach Sunrise Rotary Club is hosting the Harlem Wizards for an evening of fun and fundraising. The Wizards will play a basketball game against a team comprised of Cape Henlopen School District administrators, teachers, and other local community celebrities. Proceeds will benefit the youth programs supported by the Rehoboth Beach Sunrise Rotary Club. The game is Sunday, November 18th at 4 p.m. at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes.
Firefly Music Festival is returning to The Woodlands June 21-23, 2019. Firefly will kick off its eighth year with a number of improvements to the fan experience, including a streamlined three-day schedule, a slate of new programming and the launch of the Firefly Loyalty Program. The Firefly Loyalty Program rewards returning fans with the first chance at passes or Firefly 2019, exclusive pricing, and other surprises along the way. Fans who have previously purchased or registered a wristband for Firefly qualify and will receive a unique code via email that will allow them access to the Loyalty Presale on November 16, 2018. During that 24-hour period only, General Admission and VIP passes can be purchased at special prices.
Tilghman Orthodontics in Berlin and Salisbury is offering a new alternative if you’re looking to straighten your teeth. It’s called Smiles Correct, which is an in-house straightening system that uses 3-D printing technology to get you the smile you want. DelmarvaLife’s Sydney Whitfield visited Tilghman Orthodontic’s Salisbury office to learn more.
Taylor Knox has been playing guitar since he was nine years old. Since then, his love for music has grown. Knox grated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He shares his musical talent with us on the Mid South Audio stage.
