What’s Happening Today – November 26, 2018
Today on DelmarvaLife:
WBOC is teaming up with the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce to host the 2019 Southern Delmarva Economic Forecast. It’s a forum that’s composed of presentations by businesses and community leaders. Following the forecast, the Eastern Shore Delegation Luncheon will feature the entire Lower Shore Legislative Delegation and their thoughts on what will be the “hot button” issues for the upcoming Maryland General Assembly. The event is Friday, December 7th at 7:30 a.m. at Salisbury University. For ticket information, click here.
Remembering and honoring our fallen heroes this special time of the year – We learn about a mission to place a wreath on every grave at the Veterans Cemetery in Beulah-Hurlock, Maryland. It’s part of Wreaths Across America. If you’d like to learn more about this effort, contact Lynn Riley at 410-330-5452. Once the wreaths arrive, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony. The ceremony takes place on Saturday, December 15th at 10 a.m., at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock. Volunteers are needed to lay wreaths.
One thing we’ve learned over the years about the people on Delmarva is that when there’s a need, they’ll step up and meet that need. That’s where the Macky and Pam Stansell House, in Ocean Pines, comes into play. It’s a home for Coastal Hospice & Palliative Care patients – the first of its kind on the Lower Shore. 102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus stopped by the construction site, to get an update on its progress.
We’re helping you take care of that person on your Christmas list who, you know, enjoys a good cocktail every now and then, but what you don’t know is what kind of wine or spirit you should gift them. We stop by Tax Free Fine Wine & Good Spirits in Delmar – the store’s new location – to get some insight.
It’s safe to say one of the most vital times in a child’s life is their development inside the womb. That’s why when a pregnancy is considered “high risk,” medical teams stop at nothing to ensure mom and baby are okay. The team at Chesapeake Health Care is no exception. DelmarvaLife’s Sydney Whitfield stops by their new location to learn more.
We’re already starting to see Delmarva turn into a Christmas Wonderland – the holiday sights, lights, and everything else that makes this time of year so magical. In Dover, they’ll celebrate “A Farmer’s Christmas” this Saturday at the Delaware Agricultural Museum. It’s an event that’s sure to put you into the holiday spirit with its mulled cider, seasonal sounds, and Avenue of The Trees.
