What’s Happening Today – November 22, 2019
Today on DelmarvaLife:
We’re going on an adventure! We’re off to Dover for another Small Town Series.
You might consider Dover a quaint community, and that’s true, but many people are coming together to take that a step further. They see how special Dover is, and they’re committed to helping it thrive. That’s the mission of the Downtown Dover Partnership. We’ll learn more about this collaborative effort that encourages different types of development, while honoring Dover’s historic qualities.
Celebrating the First State – in apparel, art and more. Another destination on our show today is actually two, that have become one. The Delaware Store and Parke Green Galleries are housed in the same building in a location that’s quite the landmark. We’ll take you there.
We’ll introduce you to a fashionista who is bringing the past to your future. Tina Hudson-Beamer sees the value in vintage. Earlier this year, she opened Tina’s Timeless Threads – sensational style through clothes that have been around a while. We can’t wait to show you her enthusiasm, and her cool clothes!
We’re also off to another stylish scene in downtown Dover. This one has connections to the past, but in a different way. Lori Llewellyn is a small town girl who says, she never really “got into” shopping malls, so she started “My Roots” for people like her. Once Lori’s best friend got involved, you’ll see how it became a place where you could outfit yourself, and walk out with a “new do.”
When you travel through a town or a city, you want to enjoy its distinct sights, sounds, and maybe even…smells. Enter – Suds & Company. It just makes “scents.” We’ll show you why this is a stellar option to find soaps, body butters, and so much more.
The “cool” continues in downtown Dover, but we’re throwing a little caffeine into the cup. The House of Coffi, on Loockerman Plaza, is where you’ll find an owner who is passionate about people, and the products she sells. You’ll want to check them out for yourself!
We’ll hear about a program that’s done a lot to revamp downtown Dover. If you have a project in mind, the program has the power to propel it into existence. We have all the details on the Downtown Development Districts Rebate Program, fueled by the Delaware State Housing Authority.
With the holidays inching closer, are you still picking out the perfect present for a particular person? You can do that in downtown Dover, too. In fact, folks have found favor at Forney’s Too since 1985. Katie stops by and checks out some of the goods.
We’ll share the story of a team that approaches projects with a “bring it on” attitude, and it’s taking off! Think of “Mountain Consulting” as a company that dabbles into a little bit of everything, fueled by the team’s desire to just make a difference. 102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus has the shares the scoop.
Just walk through the doors of La Baguette Bakery & Catering, and you’ll instantly be transported to France. You know we HAD to stop by to check out the sweets. Heads up – you’ll be rushing out the door to check them out for yourself!
