What’s Happening Today – Nov. 29, 2016
Today on DelmarvaLife:
10-year-old Phoenix Biggs of Dover collects books on his birthdays to donate to the Read Aloud Delaware organization. Phoenix’s mom Marie and Mary Randall, Kent County Coordinator of Read Aloud Delaware, join us as well to share this amazing story.
The Second Annual Ward Museum Silver Bells Holiday Quarter and Benefit Auction featuring guest auctioneer Dave Allen is Sat., Dec. 3. The auction preview starts at 5 pm and the auction starts at 6 pm. The cost is $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Price includes admission and a paddle. You can purchase a VIP ticket for $35 which includes admission to event and VIP room, paddle, and a roll of quarters. This fundraiser raised over $5,000 last year and their education department serviced over 22,500 youth and adult students. The Ward Museum’s goal this year is to double that amount.
For some children on Delmarva, their lives are filled with adversity. Whether it’s abuse, neglect, or some other problem that’s preventing them from reaching their full potential. Laura Rimmer with Children and Families First tells us about how they help those children and put stability back into their lives.
Earlier this month, we launched a new series on DelmarvaLife called “What’s the Difference?” In the first segment, Sean learned the difference between cold brew and hot brew coffee. If you remember cold coffee can take almost 24 hours to brew, while hot coffee takes only a couple of minutes. Today, Sean set out to investigate the different types of gold.
Be sure to tune in today at 5 pm!

Not every child on Delmarva is fortunate enough to get Christmas gifts. That’s where WBOC’s Bless Our Children Campaign makes a difference. Our goal is to get enough money to local charities so they can buy a present for every child in need here on Delmarva. If you would like to donate and help, send your card and donation to Bless Our Children in Care of WBOC, 1729 N. Salisbury Blvd. 21801 or you can donate online at wboc.com.
