What’s Happening Today – Nov. 15, 2017
Today on DelmarvaLife:
Today, we turn our attention to Somerset County, where Pastor Everett Landon is leading the Methodist congregations on Smith Island. And as with most situations in life, there are challenges to overcome. WBOC’s Kimberly Wiggins joins us on the couches to tell us about those challenges, and how Pastor Landon is ready to tackle them. She’s sharing with us how Pastor Landon says he got a clear sign from God that He was right where God wanted him to be when considering his congregation and the issues that stand in front of it.
Local Artist Madison Griffin joins us in studio today. Madison’s artwork will be featured tomorrow night at the Revival House at Milton Theatre as part of the monthly “sermon” there. The Revival House is screening the film “Moon” tomorrow evening. Doors open at 6 p.m.
While it’s not a topic that often comes up in conversation, hospice care is something that’s important to discuss. What first comes to mind when you think of hospice care? That all hope is lost? That you have to admit your loved one to an uncomfortable facility? That’s simply not the case. President of Coastal Hospice, Alane Capen, stops by to clear up misconceptions related to hospice care.
Sara Hambury, the owner of West-O Bottle Shop and Bar also joins us to talk about how wine can actually enhance the flavor of your Thanksgiving meal. In fact, Sara says, if your turkey is too dry, there’s a wine for that. If your sweet potatoes are too sweet, there’s a wine for that. Sara also talks about West-O’s Black Friday Bourbon Auction. Sneak peek: a rare bottle of Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve will be featured!
Chef Tracy Owes from the Big Easy on 60 in Ocean City is here and he’s bringing dinner and dessert! He’s making slow-cooked braised short ribs with garlic mashed potatoes and collard greens. He’s also making stuffed caramel apple turnovers. Yes, please!
