What’s Happening Today – Nov. 11, 2016
Today on DelmarvaLife:
It’s Veterans Day! We want to say “thank you” to all who have served.
We would like to congratulate Delaware’s Teacher of the Year, Wendy Turner. Wendy is a second grade teacher at Mount Pleasant Elementary School and we learn more about her when she joins us on the show today. She tells us about how teaching wasn’t her first career and what it was like to receive such an honorable title.
Any lifelong surfer knows that surfing is a lifestyle and the lessons you learn in the water can be applied to many facets of life. Some local middle school students are learning that first hand. Sean spent some time with the Surf Into Integrity crew to find out how lives are being changed one wave at a time.
Krista Brooks, CEO and founder of Eastern Shore Doulas, tells us all about how beneficial a doula can be for an expecting mother. Doulas also can assist the family after the child is born.
Hoochi Coochi is an indie blues band from Dover, Del. and they take the DelmarvaLife stage for the first time today. The band is made up of Chelsea Grant, Fatz Hawkins, Spencer Greene, and Danielle Johnson. The band has been together for a year and today is a special day for them because they are releasing their first EP. You can purchase it here. Check out Hoochi Coochi’s upcoming performances on their website and check out their Facebook page as well.
