What’s Happening Today – Nov. 10, 2017
Today on DelmarvaLife:
We’d like to say “thank you” to all of the veterans on Delmarva who so selflessly agreed to put their lives on the line to protect our freedom. Dozens of restaurants are also offering free meals to our veterans to show their appreciation. Here is the link to find out which restaurants.
We’re getting excited to meet Pinocchio the Andean Bear, who is on his way to Delmarva from Ecuador, thanks to the Hertrich Family of Automobile Dealerships. We head to the Salisbury Zoo to check out Pinocchio’s new digs ahead of his upcoming arrival. Pinocchio will be Chaska’s mate – who you see in the above picture with Lisa.
DelmarvaLife’s Sydney Whitfield is off to Easton, where the annual Waterfowl Festival is underway. From the art, to the food, to the goose and duck-calling contests, there’s something for everyone at this event. Sydney gives us an on-location preview.
We know that dogs are good for your health, but what about crickets? We’ll dig into the research that might take you by surprise! Oh, and of course, we have another list of sweet faces in this week’s Pet Connect, brought to you by the Veterinary Medical Center in Easton. We’ll introduce you to a couple of dogs, a cat, birds and a guinea pig that all need a loving home.
The band “Beauty for Ashes” is back on the Mid South Audio Stage. They recently recorded an album in Nashville. They’ll tell us about an album release party taking place on December 2 in Salisbury. Beauty for Ashes will also perform two original songs for us: “Before I’m Gone” and “Something Good.”
We are in the DelmarvaLife kitchen making a caramel-soaked french toast with Laurie Webb from Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury. The recipe is just one of many featured in the church’s cookbook, Taste of Trinity – Food for the Soul. Here is the recipe:
