Ocean City Family Shares Their Story of Having a Child with Cystic Fibrosis
4 year old Bentley Gilberthorp of Ocean City, Md. has to wear a vest twice a day to help him breathe better. Bentley was born with cystic fibrosis, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit. His parents, Tabatha and Bentley Sr., join us in the studio to tell us more about Bentley and this journey. There is a community walk coming up on May 22 at Pemberton Historical Park in Salisbury, Md. at Noon.
Bone Marrow Drive
Many patient with leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, and immune deficiency disorders all have one thing in common. Many patients tho have these illnesses can be helped, and even cured, with a bone marrow transplant. You can step up to help through a match registry. Jessica King, President of Salisbury Jaycees who are a sponsor of the event, stops by the studio to tell us all about how you can help. The “Be the Match Bone Marrow Registration Drive” is May 9 from 10 am – 2 pm at Salisbury University and 4:30 pm – 8:30 pm at UMES.
Live for Chocolate Event in Seaford, Del.
Sean visits Sweet Serenity Chocolates in Seaford, Del. to learn all about the annual Live for Chocolate event. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness for women’s health. Executive Director of the Greater Seaford Chamber of Commerce, Lynn Brocato, tells Sean all about the upcoming event on May 6 at 5 pm.
Mother’s Day Gift Ideas From Bennett Farms

In the Kitchen with Chef Doug Ruley from Papa Grande’s
Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow so Chef Doug from Papa Grande’s stopped by the DelmarvaLife kitchen to share his recipe for Mexican street corn and margaritas. The Mexican street corn recipe is below and the recipe for margaritas is simple – fresh lime juice, tequila, and agave nectar. Combine the ingredients, shake and pour over ice in a glass with a salted rim.
Mexican Street Corn
- 4 ears local sweet corn on the cob
- 2 t. crema
- 1 whole. lime
- 1 tsp. cotija cheese or parmesan, grated
- 1 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- pinch sea salt
- drizzle olive oil
Preheat grill to medium-high heat. peel back husks on the ears of the corn, remove the silk but leave the husks on. Drizzle with olive oil. place corncobs directly on the grill, turning once halfway through, long enough to heat through and toast or about 6 to 7 minutes. Take off the grill and slather with crema. Arrange on a large platter. squeeze lime over the ears then sprinkle with smoked paprika, pepper, sea salt and finally with the grated cheese. Serve immediately.
