What’s Happening Today – May 25, 2016
Today on DelmarvaLife:
We’re taking a step back in history to World War II. We’ll learn more about one local school’s project entitled “Historical Documentaries.” Hear how third, fourth and fifth grade students are preserving the past for future generations.
The Veterans Military Banner Program in Mardela Springs is a way to honor those who have fought for our country. We’ll sit down with the people who came up with the idea, and find out how our viewers can also pay tribute to a special veteran in their life.
We kick off a new series today called, “Ask the Doc.” Chris Snyder, DO, the chief informatics officer and hospitalist with Peninsula Regional Medical Center, joins us to answer questions that you may be too embarrassed to ask your doctor. From stinky feet to bad breath and everything in between, no topic is off limits!
We’re in the kitchen today with Chef Mark Buchanan from The Brick Hotel Restaurant and Tavern. Chef Buchanan is making bacon compote, which will be featured at the upcoming Meals on Wheels Culinary Classic in Bridgeville. We’ll also preview this inaugural event, which benefits Meals on Wheels Delaware. There will be fantastic food, delicious drinks and so much more! Here are the ingredients for the bacon compote:;
Bacon Compote:
2Lbs bacon diced
1 Vidalia onion diced
1 red onion diced
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2tbs brown sugar
We’re getting an in-studio demo on 3D printing! WBOC’s Director of Informational Technology, Greg Gay, joins us to show us how it works. And get this – he built the printer from scratch! Wait ’til you see his creation!
We also chat about Delaware Pickleball and you can find a link to that here, as well as Pohanka Pink and that link is pohankapink.com.
