Today on DelmarvaLife –
Keeping Delmarva clean, while conserving this place we call home. Today’s show takes us to Ocean City where, from the beach to the bay, and every place in between, the resort town is “going green,” and you can be a big part of it.
What if nobody cared about keeping our beaches beautiful? In Ocean City, the community pitches in to keep the town clean through “Adopt Your Beach” and “Dune Patrol.” WBOC’s Heidi Werosta shows us how, with help from these groups, the beaches are kept clean and clutter-free.
The town of Ocean City is also trying to spread the message about properly disposing cigarette butts. After all, they are the number one piece of trash that is left on the beach. 102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus shows us how the town is collecting the discarded butts and giving them a chance at a second life as patio furniture.
Ocean City officials are turning trash into treasure. The town is taking all of the trash it produces, and turning it into renewable energy. WBOC’s Heidi Werosta reports on how the “Waste to Watts” program works.
The sun is pulling double duty for the town of Ocean City, and it’s all thanks to solar panels. You may have seen the 10 megawatt solar farm at the Route 50 and 90 interchange. We find out how this project is expected to save the town of Ocean City and taxpayers tons of money.
The business community is jumping in to help with the effort to turn Ocean City “green.” 102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus stopped by Mother’s Cantina on Philadelphia Avenue to learn more.
Every fall, you can count on the team at Spicer Bros. Construction to launch Delmarva’s Neediest Roof Contest. In December, we help the Spicer Brothers team surprise two deserving people on Delmarva with the gift of a lifetime, a new roof. Now, Spicer Bros. Construction is stepping it up a notch, with the inaugural Veteran Roof Giveaway.
