Today on DelmarvaLife –
According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease takes a woman’s life about every 80 seconds. It’s important that we take measures to protect the women in our lives and that’s exactly what one group is doing. Delaware’s Go Red for Women Luncheon is happening next week. We talk with Karen Gritton, the development director for the American Heart Association, and she discusses the importance of knowing your heart health and how the community can still participate in the luncheon.
A couple of weeks ago we, along with Wicomico County Schools Superintendent, Donna Hanlin, surprised 5 Wicomico County Teachers by announcing the Wicomico Teacher of the Year! While school not be in session, teachers all around the Peninsula are being recognized for their passion, hard work, and dedication to their profession. Last night was no different when the Somerset County 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year was announced. Lauren Beauchamp, Kindergarten teacher at Carter G. Woodson Elementary School and Somerset’s Teacher of the Year, joins us to talk about the honor and how she’s adapted to the challenges of teaching in these times.
It’s Friday and you know what that means? It’s time for Pet Connect! This week, we have some superhero kitties ready to go their marvel-ous homes.
Parker Beebe is currently battling a rare genetic disease called Tuberous Sclerosis. Parker’s parents are hosting a fundraiser to raise awareness about Parker’s condition and to help fund TSC research. However, there’s a spicy and saucy twist to it: they’re raising funds through a virtual wing eating contest. Today, we talk with Parker’s parents to find out exactly what the wing eating contest entails and how the community can get involved.
We’re having some fun on this dreary, rainy Friday. Lisa and Jimmy are battling it out in a game of charades. Winner gets bragging rights!
Delmarva is honoring graduating students, spreading positivity through music, and supporting women whose businesses have shut down. We have another round of “All That is Good.”
