What’s Happening Today – May 17, 2017
Today on DelmarvaLife:
There is so much talent here on the Delmarva peninsula and we love to feature them on DelmarvaLife. Today, we are showing off a talented father-daughter duo, Paul and Alyssa Lewis, who tell us about their indie-music thriller film, “Days of Power.”
There’s an exciting event coming up at the Salisbury Regional Airport – Wings and Wheels. The event is sponsored by Piedmont Airlines and is a family fun event for the entire community to enjoy. The event will feature aircraft on display, including military aircraft and helicopters, as well as, assets from the Maryland National Guard, the U.S. Navy Test Pilot School and the Maryland State Police. Airplane and helicopter rides will be available and food trucks and other vendors will be at the event as well. Classic cars will also be on display and there will be live music from several different bands to entertain the crowd throughout the day. Bring the whole family out to the Wings and Wheels event on Saturday, May 20 from 8 am-3 pm at the Salisbury Airport. Learn more here. 102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus gets a sneak peak of the event today.
The Baldcypress Bluegrass Festival is an full day jam-packed with as much bluegrass music as you could possibly fathom. Executive Director of the Delaware Wildlands, Kate Hackett, and Development and Marking Manager, Wendy Scott, tell us all about the upcoming event on May 20. Th event will include Dogfish brews and wine, food trucks, vendors, educational exhibits, games, and great music all day long. The Baldcypress Bluegrass Festival is from Noon- 6 pm in Frankford, Del., and proceeds benefit the Delaware Wildlands. We couldn’t talk about a bluegrass festival without hearing some bluegrass music, so we welcome Blue Crab Crossing to the Mid South Audio Stage. They’re performing “Mountain Love Song” and “l Can Hear The Voice.”
WBOC’s Charlie Paparella joins us in the DelmarvaLife studio today. He tells us about a book titled, “Delmarva’s Chicken Industry, 75 Years of Progress.” We couldn’t let Charlie join us today without playing some tunes, so be sure to tune in at 5 pm to listen!
