What’s Happening Today – May 14, 2019
Today on DelmarvaLife –

One of the most significant rites of passage to adulthood is home ownership. If you own a home, you probably remember the feeling of accomplishment once the papers were signed and you were handed the keys. It’s not always a quick and easy process, especially if you don’t have a seasoned professional leading you through. We caught up with Pam Price from Remax Coast and Country to find out what you need to know before you start hitting up open houses.
Through the years, we’ve seen all types of fun themes at the Southern Delaware Heart Ball, but the mission remains the same, to bring the Delmarva community together to celebrate the strides, to raise funds, and to honor those who have battled heart conditions. This time around, have your vintage Vegas gear ready, because that’s is the theme. Chairs of the 2019 Southern Delaware Heart Ball, Patrick and Stephanie Preece join us to talk about this year’s event that will be held June 1st from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Dover Downs Hotel.
The Biggs Museum of American Art is holding its annual gala. This year, the museum will celebrate the Honorable Nancy W. Cook for her lifelong public service to Delaware, as well as her contributions as a founding member of the Biggs Museum Board of Trustees. Museum Curator, Ryan Grover talks about the museum’s mission and how the money from the gala helps support the arts. The gala is Saturday, May 18th from 6 to 11 p.m. at the museum in Dover.
The Second Annual Corporate Pinewood Derby is Friday. Put on by the Delmarva Council of the Boy Scouts of America, this is a Pinewood Derby for adults. District executive of the Delmarva Council of the BSA, Kim Parsons; and derby participant, John Schofield show us how it works.
Chef Chauwan Matthews from Plate It in Princess Anne is in the DelmarvaLife Kitchen showing us how to make 2 dishes. Baby Back Ribs with Blueberry Mac and Cheese, and a Mango Habanero Chicken Burger.
