What’s Happening Today – June 24, 2016
Today on DelmarvaLife:
Gardening expert Ginny Rosenkranz, with the University of Maryland Extension Office, stopped by Bennett Farms Gift and Garden Center to pick up a few pollinators. Ginny will give us the lowdown on what they are, and how to plant them. We’ll also get an update on the vegetable and herb garden Sean planted a few weeks ago, under Ginny’s guidance.
Friday means the show goes to the dogs…and the cats, too. In today’s Pet Connect, we introduce you to several sweet faces on Delmarva that need a loving home.
We’re learning about all of the fun that can be had at your local library this summer. Today, we feature Selbyville Public Library. Library Director Kelly Kline stops by to tell us more about the many programs offered at the library, including Kids’ Kafe, Minecraft Mondays – even an adult reading program. We’ll also learn about the PAWS for Reading program, where children have an opportunity to read to trained therapy dogs. In fact, the program’s Thayer Cooper will be joined by one of those dogs today, “Chloe.” Thayer will also tell us how “PAWS” benefits the children, and how your little one can get involved.
Sean visits the 2016 Hebron Fireman’s Carnival, put on by the Hebron Fire Department. It’s a 90-year-old event here on Delmarva. This year, the carnival opened in two separate sessions. The first wrapped up at the end of May, and the second kicked off last night. Sean will show us all of the fun you can have when you plan a trip to the carnival.
We are so excited for “Silhouette Song” to take the stage in Historic Studio D today. This three generation, family folk rock band will perform two original songs for us, “Full Hands” and “Black and White.”
Hope you enjoy the show!
