Ribbon cutting for the Rebecca & Leighton Moore Child & Adolescent Outpatient Unit at PRMC

Dr. Steven Dixon, Executive Director for Behavioral Health Services at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, with Jimmy and Lisa to discuss mental illness and children
We learn about the new behavioral health service center at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. PRMC has partnered with Adventist HealthCare Behavioral Health & Wellness Services to open the Rebecca & Leighton Moore Child & Adolescent Outpatient Unit. Many people might be surprised to learn that mental illness can have quite an impact on adolescents. According to PRMC, “Behavioral Health includes mood disorders, personality disorders, psychiatric disorders, eating disorders, addictions and some geriatric cognitive disorders.”
Some children on Delmarva need a positive influence in their lives, and for 42 years, many children in Sussex County have been given that influence thanks to Seaford’s John Hollis. He’s the founder of the Minority Engineering Regional Incentive Training (MERIT) program. Lisa spends some time with John, and it will be easy to see why we consider him a Delmarva Treasure.
Sean gets just a taste of what it’s like to be a firefighter, as he spends a day in the life with the Easton Volunteer Fire Department. Let’s just say after today, Sean has a newfound respect for the men and women who put on that uniform and make it a priority to keep others safe each and every day. The Easton Volunteer Fire Department is also looking for volunteers. For more information, call (410) 822-4848.
Jimmy gave one lucky audience member, Richard Green, a $50.00 gift certificate to Ocean City Fish Company.
We are in the kitchen today with the Ocean City Fish Company. We are making two seafood dishes today: Cioppino and Shrimp Salad. Here are the recipes:
Cioppino
Directions:
1) Sauté onions, garlic, and bacon in EV Olive Oil in large stock pot until onion are translucent and bacon is rendered.
2) Deglaze pot with Chardonnay
3) Add tomatoes, oregano, thyme, tomato paste, parsley, and red pepper flakes and let simmer for 25 minutes
4) Add seafood (of your choice) and cover until shell fish has opened and/or shrimp is fully cooked
