When it comes to taking care of our hearts, we all know the basics, eat a balanced diet, get enough sleep, stay active, and don’t smoke. Are you actually doing all that stuff? We hear from Interventional Cardiologist, Dr. Stephen Hearne with PRMC to find out why small lifestyle steps can make a big difference.
UMES Mosely Gallery is playing host to “Community,” an exhibition that celebrates the importance of and diversity of our sense of community. The exhibition will be on display Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until March 12. Thursday Feb. 20 at 11 am there will be a brown bag lunch and gallery talk with Paul ‘Sketch’ Boyd, who created the Church Street mural in Salisbury last summer.
The iconic Harlem Globetrotters are coming to the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center Sunday, March 8th. DelmarvaLife’s Katie Zarrilli caught up with Globetrotter Zeus McClurkin and, as you can probably imagine, it was a match-up you have to see to believe.
We are in the DelmarvaLife Kitchen with Chef Andrew Boyle of Bethany Blues making “Bacon Wrapped Avocado Fries.”
Bacon Wrapped Avocado Fries
Ingredients
20 strips of precooked packaged bacon (see note)
1 large avocado sliced into thin fry-size pieces (I sliced each
avocado half into 5 slices, and then cut them down the middle to
make them shorter, making 10 fries per half avocado)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Take one strip of precooked bacon and try to
gently stretch a little longer without it breaking (especially near the
lighter pink and white parts). Carefully wrap around avocado fry,
starting at one end and working to the other end, and securely tuck
in the end piece. Repeat with remaining and place onto baking
sheet. Bake for 5-10 minutes or until bacon becomes crisp.
Notes
It’s important to use precooked bacon instead of raw. Using
precooked bacon cuts the cook time down and helps crisp the
bacon. If the avocado cooks too long in the oven it will become
very bitter.
