What’s Happening Today – Feb. 23, 2017
Today on DelmarvaLife:
Tim Kennard is a name that many people know on Delmarva. Tim was a father, athlete, husband, and a brave man who lost his battle with kidney cancer in 2004. His legacy lives on with the Tim Kennard River Run. Executive Director of the Tim Kennard Race, Ken Gaudreu, and Director of Development, Maureen McNeill, join us to talk about the 14th Annual Tim Kennard Run and what race proceeds will benefit. The Tim Kennard River Run is March 5.
It’s tough to watch your loved ones health decline. Perhaps they are not as sharp as they once were, or do not remember as well as they once did. However, you do not have to sit back and feel helpless. You can reach out for assistance for your loved one. Where to start? Kevin Boothe, co-owner of Delmar Assisted Living, tells us about the do’s and don’t’s of selecting an assisted living facility.
Even though Spring is just around the corner, the nights are still chilly. That’s why local homeless shelters are keeping busy. One of those shelters is the Immanuel Shelter in Rehoboth. The shelter is open from December to April and helps ease the burden of the more than 400 individuals and families in Sussex County who do not have a place to call home. Next weekend, you can help the efforts and have a great time doing it with the Raise the Roof for the Homeless Concert. Board Member and Chairman of the Fundraising for Immanuel Shelter, Rex Rogosch, stops by the studio to tell us more about the benefit.
Fork and Flask at Nage in Rehoboth Beach has joined the effort of helping the homeless community on Delmarva. Catering Chef Joe Charles and Chef de Cuisine, Rob Peck, are making cedar-planked salmon with curry spaghetti squash. Fork and Flash at Nage will give event ticket holders a 15% off their dinner meals the night of the concert when tickets are shown at the time of ordering.
