What’s Happening Today – December 5, 2018
Today on DelmarvaLife:
It’s the surprise of a lifetime times infinity! We enlist some help from a local fire department to surprise this year’s second winner in Spicer Bros. Construction‘s Delmarva’s Neediest Roof Contest. Jimmy and Brian Spicer knock on the door of an unsuspecting Delmarva resident, to surprise he/she with the news that they’re getting a new, FREE, GAF roof, courtesy of the team at Spicer Bros. Construction. 102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus surprised the first winner yesterday – Dale Wigglesworth, of Salisbury.
Over the years, we have heard story after story of how women have faced breast cancer and overcame it. We’ve spoken with representatives from organizations that help support those brave women through their journey, and we’ve talked with doctors about the therapies and treatments that get women, and some men, to the point where they can say their cancer journey is over. Today, we talk about a procedure that can be a final step in the journey. In fact, it can make breast cancer survivors feel whole again. It’s called nipple tattoo. We visit Village Spa & Salon, in Lewes, to see how this cosmetic procedure is also healing the heart.
For many people, it truly is one of the most wonderful times of the year. It’s easy for them to feel the joy, the magic, the love, the holiday season seems to bring. For others, though, this time of the year isn’t always jolly. For whatever reason, it’s tough. Many factors can come into play for a person who is struggling to get through these months when feel anything but joy inside. We sit down with Dr. Suni Jani, with Community Behavioral Health, to learn more about the “holiday blues.”
If you’re on the “real tree” side of the Christmas tree debate, then you’ll want to pay very close attention to what the team from Bennett Termite & Pest Solutions, in Bishopville, has to say today. They’ll help us make sure we don’t bring home any unwanted guests when you lug that tree inside the house. We’ll also talk about bed bugs and how easy it is to pick them up during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
Consider it a “one-stop shop” for everything you need to decorate for the holiday season, and if you need a unique gift for someone on your list – the team at Jeff’s Greenhouses & Gift Shop, in Bethel, can take care of that, too. From poinsettias, to Christmas trees and live greenery, to everything in between, DelmarvaLife’s Sydney Whitfield had no problem getting in the middle of it all, to show us.
We’re in the Kirby & Holloway Kitchen with Island Creamery Co-Owner Jen Sorrell. She’s showing us how they make their candied sweet potato ice cream!
We’re also giving away five prizes today in our DelmarvaLife Holiday Guide Giveaway! Be sure to tune at 5 pm to hear if you’re a winner. Enter the Holiday Guide Giveaway daily for additional chances to win, by clicking here.
