What’s Happening Today – Dec. 9, 2016
Today on DelmarvaLife:
Flying is a hobby enjoyed by many and Sean recently learned it’s not that hard to get started. He jumped into the cockpit with the folks at Ocean Aviation. A discovery flight can make the perfect holiday gift for anyone who may be interested in flying, whether they’re 10-years-old or 80-years-old.
We’ve got some more furry friends up for adoption today! Pets featured in today’s Pet Connect are from First State Animal Center and SPCA, Talbot Humane and the Humane Society of Wicomico County.
Sean took a trip to Hurlock, Md. to visit Suicide Bridge Restaurant to see what’s on the menu this time of year.
Bill Andrew, president and CEO of Delaware Electric Cooperative, presents Lisa and Jimmy a check as part of Delaware Electric Co-Op giving back. Delaware Electric Cooperative’s Board of Directors has voted to return $6.3 million in capital credits to the cooperative’s member-owners in December. To receive a billing credit or check from the Cooperative, you must have been a Delaware Electric Cooperative member in 1999, 2000 or 2001. If a member has eligible capital credits of $100 or higher, they will receive a check. If their allocated capital credits amount is less than $100, a member will receive a credit on their bill. Members who had an active account in 1999, 2000 or 2001, but are no longer served by DEC, will also receive a check for their portion of the retired capital credits. Over the past five years the Cooperative has returned more than $24 million to members. Anyone with questions about their capital credit refund should call the Cooperative at 855-332-9090.
It’s Friday which means we have another great, local band in our studio. The Keith White Duo joins us today, along with the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Worship Team. They perform two holiday favorites, “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Joy to the World.”
Be sure to tune in today at 5 pm!

Not every child on Delmarva is fortunate enough to get Christmas gifts. That’s where WBOC’s Bless Our Children Campaign makes a difference. Our goal is to get enough money to local charities so they can buy a present for every child in need here on Delmarva. If you would like to donate and help, send your card and donation to Bless Our Children in Care of WBOC, 1729 N. Salisbury Blvd. 21801 or you can donate online at wboc.com.
