What’s Happening Today – August 9, 2019
Today on DelmarvaLife:
Experts are warning of another mosquito-borne illness similar to West Nile Virus found and it’s been found here on Delmarva. It’s called Eastern Equine Encephalitis. We sit down with Public Health Emergency Planner with the Wicomico County Health Department, Danny Drew, to find out what that means for you.
Author Diana McDonough has a unique way of looking at life. We had the honor of hearing all about it when she stopped by Historic Studio D years ago, to help us avoid getting Stuck in the Onesies. That was her first book, but Diana has since written a sequel, My Mother’s Apprentice. The book won a bronze medal from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association. Diana will tell us more about it. You can purchase her book through Amazon, or at the Greyhound Bookstore in Berlin, Bethany Beach Books, or Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.
There’s something about young people working to make change in the community that just warms the heart. We sit down with two local teenagers who are doing just that. Anandi Bajpai and Anandi Bajpai are part of the group “Into the Marsh.” Their mission is to clean up the wetlands on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. They’ll talk more about their passion, and explain how you can get on board with their efforts.
Another round of Pet Connect comes your way. We’ll introduce you to several sweet animals on Delmarva that need a loving home.
The weather on Delmarva is wild. One minute the sun is shining. The next minute, there could be a downpour. On top of that, the temperatures. Remember that Christmas a couple of years ago when it was hot enough to wear shorts? You never know what you’re going to get, and all of that fluctuation can have an impact on your crawl space. The team at Dry-Tek Environmental can help ensure it stays in tip top shape. 102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus explains how.
Today’s band on the Mid South Audio Stage describes their sounds as “an organically acoustic experience.” The Piccadilly Spoonfed” brings high energy to help us kick off the weekend!
Do you know someone who has a birthday or wedding anniversary coming up? A great way to celebrate is with a DelmarvaLife Occasion. Submit your occasion here.
