The National Hard Crab Derby in Crisfield kicked off Monday with the Miss Crustacean Pageant, and the carnival opened last night. This weekend is when everything really kicks into full gear. There will be a crab-cooking contest tomorrow night, the Mike Sterling 10k Saturday morning, and the Governor’s Cup Race. If you’d like to see the complete schedule, click here.

We’re recognizing patriotism. The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office recently received the Freedom Award. The Office is one of only 15 employers in the country that was bestowed the honor. The Freedom Award is given to employers whose efforts to support National Guard and Reserve employees, really stand out. Sheriff Mike Lewis joins us, to tell us what this honor means to him.

We head to Bridgeville to check out a lot of what Heritage Shores has to offer. You might already know it’s a 55+ community, but what you might not know is that everyone is welcome to enjoy some of the club’s amenities, including its championship golf course. DelmarvaLife’s Sydney Whitfield shows us.

Gardening expert Ginny Rosenkranz, with the University of Maryland Extension Office, stops by with some beautiful flowers and plants, including Joe Pye Weed and Mountain Mint. Ginny tells us more about the pollinator garden that will be set up next weekend at the National Folk Festival in Salisbury.

The big races at Dover International Speedway are so much more than fast cars! Sydney visited the last race, and she’s here today to show us some of the other fun you can have. Get ready for a day the whole family won’t soon forget!
