What’s Happening Today – April 29, 2019
Today on DelmarvaLife:
DelmarvaLife’s Sydney Whitfield sits in for Lisa this afternoon.
Can you think back on a rough time in your life when you just couldn’t seem to find answers? We’ve all been there. We’re learning about a program created for those who are suffering. Pastor Chuck Betters and his wife, Sharon, founded Markinc Ministries. Hear how it’s helping people get through, showing them there is hope, and bringing in some star power (Laura Story) to spread a powerful message.
If you have a loved one who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, then you probably already know the importance of trying to keep their mind active. We stop by Delmar Assisted Living to see how their team is getting creative while trying to stir up memories.
Have you ever heard of a physical therapy program that targets golfers and their all-too-common back pain? It’s not a dream – it’s reality. Hear how the team at Excellens Physical Therapy in Lewes – the land-based division of Aquacare Physical Therapy – can help golfers find pain relief that will get them back on the course in no time.
We have another round of Most Wanted Monday – men and women, police say, have committed a crime and are on the run. Lt. Tim Robinson, with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, stops by to introduce us to the fugitives authorities are looking to find. Your anonymous tip on their whereabouts could lead to extra cash in your pocket. Just call Crime Solvers of the Lower Eastern Shore: 410-548-1776.
Over the past year or so, we’ve seen how “Avery Hall Cares.” We’ve shown you how this referral program gives back to organizations such as the Nanticoke Senior Center in Seaford. Donations directly impact the lives of senior citizens in Sussex County. “Avery Hall Cares” has also helped Habitat for Humanity Choptank, as it helps deserving families accomplish the dream of home ownership. Another non-profit organization that has benefited is the Humane Society of Wicomico County, and the many animals that are waiting to find their “happily ever after.” Today, we add another non-profit to the list. 102.5 WBOC‘s Corey Phoebus stops by the Milton Community Food Pantry, where the Avery Hall team will present a check to help with the pantry’s mission.
It’s a beautiful Spring day, and the rest of the week looks even nicer. It’s like you can almost taste Summer, and if you’re looking to make this Summer the best one yet, then we have a few ideas to throw your way. Corey spent some time with the team at Worcester County Recreation and Parks, to get a preview of some of the fun you can get into, on Delmarva.
