Violinist, Elena Urioste joins Jimmy and Lisa today on DelmarvaLife to describe her remarkable journey, as well as the path she is paving for her future. Another magical moment you can be a part of, walking or running alongside the fighters and families touched by Alzheimer’s. The famous “Athletes Against Alzheimer’s, 5k Walk or Run” will be taking place Sunday, August 6 in downtown Bethany Beach. The event helps raise funds for the Delaware Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, which will help continue research aimed at eradicating the debilitating disease. Founder of “Athletes Against Alzheimer’s“, Michael Loftus and Senior Director of Advocacy for the Delaware Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, Katie Macklin joined Jimmy today to discuss the event and how you can get involved.
From one good cause to another, Lisa sat down with Kristin Staples and Lynn Adkins, co-creators of “SBY Rocks” to discuss how this unique and creative initiative, popping up nationwide, has made it’s way to Salisbury and is already brightening up people’s days one rock at a time. Hear how the group is finding plain rocks and transforming them into beautiful messages of inspiration and hope, and then placing them randomly around Delmarva! What do you do if you’ve found one or want to paint one for yourself? Tune in to DelmarvaLife at five to find out.
It’s time to hit the road, but when it’s time to go on a roadtrip one thing that doesn’t sound so pleasant hitting your car are all those miles. Today 102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus heads to Mills Rental Cars in Fruitland where they have a better ride in mind. The family owned business prides itself in making the stressful process of renting a car, a breeze and is proud to have the majority of their customers coming back, some on a weekly basis! Have an accident while on vacation? Don’t worry, Mills Rentals works with your insurance company directly, yet again taking the stress away from renting a car. Hear the whole story, plus see which car Corey takes for a test drive, today at five.
Finally we bring it back to the studio to hear how technology, meets education, meets the Iron Chef Competition, all in a library? Yep, we think it’s pretty safe to say the Worcester County Library in Ocean City is a pretty special place. We sit down Ocean City Library Branch Manager, Brittney Herz Glenn as she gives us all the details on the how the OC Library is breaking the barriers and becoming a modern library. The library’s new tech studio caught our attention; Brittney describes how the studio will house everything from educational programs, games, a virtual reality system and a 3D printer! She even shows us a bear made from the printer! Tune in at five to learn about all the details of this fantastic library.
Finally, we can’t end the day without giving one lucky winner a prize from our “Summer Guide Giveaway”. Someone is about to be a Jiu Jitsu pro with a free private lesson from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blackbelt, Miles Mottif at the Southside Jiu Jitsu Club in Salisbury.
All of that and more, today at five!
