What’s Appening – DelDOT Partners with Waze
Ethan showed us an app called Waze last year.
Waze is a community-based traffic and navigation app which gives you real-time traffic and road information, such as an accident or construction.
The Delaware Department of Transportation is getting on board with the app as well. DelDOT’s Director of Technology and Innovation, LiWen Lin, joins us in Historic Studio D, along with Ethan, to talk about DelDot’s partnership with Waze.
LiWen says DelDOT provides information about construction, road closures, and incidents they know of and sends it to Waze, and Waze sends DelDOT information regarding what “Wazers” in the area are saying about road conditions.
“We’re hoping that our citizens and folks that are traveling through Delaware can have a frustration-free drive because they will have the most up-to-date real-time information about the roadways,” LiWen says.
Information that the “Wazers” provide will show up on the DelDOT mobile app. LiWen mentions how you can add layers to the map such as travel times, traffic camera, advisories, etc. LiWen says this helps people plan their trips better to avoid construction and beach traffic.
