Virginia Native Gives a History Lesson on Eastern Shore Names
Do you remember when you first saw the word, “Worcester,” and you had absolutely no clue how to pronounce it?
Some of the town names on Delmarva are rather unique. But there is a lot of history packed in those names and Ryan Webb, a socio-linguist and blogger, stopped by Historic Studio D to give us a history lesson after he spent a good bit of time studying language.
Ryan will also be at the next storytelling guild meeting on Chincoteague. It will be at the CCA on Church Street. The event begins at 7 pm this Friday, Aug 31. This week’s theme is local lingo, aka “Teaguer Talk.”
