Pastor & Piano Man Pursues His Meaning of Life
Pastor at Pathway to Life Church Steven Boyd has been spreading the message of hope since he was a young boy. Steven talked about how his mother and father took in lots of families and really cared for them.
“Everything from cooking for those families and taking them to the store and buying them essentials that they need it,” Steven says about his family. “So the charitable work and the work of helping families that were in need really started at home and progressed through the church.”
Alongside of Stephen’s love for helping others was a love for music.
“I come from a musical family,” Stephen says. “I look at my family background my mom and all her brothers and sisters grew up with a piano in the house. At five years old, my first instrument I picked up was the drums, which I continue to play and I still play even today. And then at eight years old, I started to get piano lessons.”
Stephen took his talents to the Christian Shelter in Salisbury, Md.
“When I was going to the Christian Shelter, my main goal was to bring hope and most of the time before I would speak a message, I would always play and always sing and most of the time, people would say ‘Can you just play one more song?’ or ‘Can you sing one more song?’ It really made me feel good to be able to bring that hope – that our hour and 10 minutes – into their life,” Stephen says.
Stephen feels he was put on this earth to help with causes like this.
“I do what I do because I’m passionate about it. This is what I feel like I was called to do. The meaning of life was to do what you created to do and so musically, I’m a musician, I’m a minister and just kind of melting those two things together for me gets me up every morning and allows me to serve my family and serve other people to the best of my ability, ” Stephen says. “So that’s why I do this. This is what I believe I was put on earth to do.”
