The shelter is a place you can call home, even if it is just for a few days. This shelter was formed by a group of Presbyterian churches to help house and support the homeless.
Shelly Daniels, the Executive Director of the Samaritan Shelter, says that their goal is not to just put a roof over their heads and food in their bellies, but to help lead them into a better, more productive life.
They see a lot of people coming in seeking help to break addiction, and while they don’t have a lot of services for that they can help those people with counseling and bettering their lives.
However, it is sad when they have someone looking for help but that just won’t follow the rules of the shelter and must be asked to leave. The shelter does encourage those who leave, for whatever reason, to come back if they ever need any help in the future.
The Samaritan Shelter relies heavily on donations as you can imagine and is holding a fundraiser this weekend called “A Night at the Opera”.
