100 Women Who Care & 100 Docs Campaign – Monday, Nov. 16, 2015
100 Women Who Care is an organization for women who still want to get involved and give back to their communities but just have a really busy schedule and don’t always have enough time.
100 Women Who Care:
- Meet for 1 hour 4 times a year
- Write 4 $100 checks a year to a non-profit in the area
- $40,000 raised by one group all for one community
- First group started in 2006 in Michigan
- Now almost 300 chapters across the country
Their latest checks went to a teen center to help them build a much needed kitchen.
The 100 Docs Campaign is a very similar concept. This campaign encourages 100 doctors to give $1,000 a year to the United Way creating a $1000,000 campaign. 100% of the donations stay right here on Delmarva!
The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore is an organization whose main goal is to promote philanthropy. The profits of this organization all stay and are invested in Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset County. Last year, they distributed 5 million dollars to 500 different non-profit organizations.
There are needs all year for families and nonprofits, but especially during this giving time is it important to give back.
“Giving Tuesday” is a day where people can give back to non profit organizations in the area that help make our community stronger like education or arts. The Art League of Ocean City is 1 of 25 non profit organizations involved in Giving Tuesday.
You can bring your donations to the organizations location or go on www.shoregivesmore.org and pick the organization(s) that you would like to donate to.
Giving Tuesday is on December 1st.
