Update on Team Surfgimp and the Surfgimp Foundation
It’s been about a year and a half since we first introduced you to Jay Liesener of Milton, Del.
A trampoline accident in 1989 left him paralyzed and for the rest of his life, Jay would only be able to use about 15% of his body. Over time, we shared with you how Jay persevered with help from Team Surfgimp – an extensive group of Jay’s friends and loved ones. Jay found the drive to get back to doing what he loved most – surfing. All with the help of his friends and family on the team.
In November 2017, Jay’s fight ended with his passing. However, Jay made it very clear that even when his time on earth was finished, he wanted Team Surfgimp to live on.
Jay’s Widow, Melanie Liesener, along with Team Surfgimp member, Jeff Land, joins us to talk about the Surfgimp Foundation’s mission and how people can get involved.
