Robert Schultheis was a father, husband, brother, Salisbury University Alumni President and much more, until his life was drastically changed on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015.
According to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16, deputies responded to a reports of a pedestrian struck in the 3000 block of Meadow Bridge Road in Fruitland, Md.
Upon arrival, deputies say they found Fruitland EMS attending to Schultheis who later died from his injuries.
Police say Schultheis was jogging on Meadow Bridge Road when he was struck by a Ford pick-up truck driven by Brent Taylor of Eden, Md.
The investigation is ongoing.

Robert Schultheis earned his B.S. in elementary education from Salisbury University in 2000. He previously served as president of the Salisbury University Alumni Association board of directors. He also received the Alumni Leadership Award in 2013.
Schultheis served as the District Sales Manager for Sysco in Ocean City, Salisbury, Cambridge and Lower Shore Delaware to Dover. His honors and awards included Senior Marketing Associate, Sysco Torchbearer, Sysco Chairman’s Club and Sysco President’s Club.

WBOC spoke to a few of Schultheis’ neighbors who were deeply saddened by this tragedy.
“He’s just a genuine person, just a wonderful father and husband,” John Romanowski,Schultheis’ neighbor said. “My wife and I used to love just chatting with their family when he’d walk by our house, I would just see him jogging up and down here and he’d give me a sulute, you know a good morning. And I’m really going to miss him.”
Listed on his LinkedIn page, Schultheis enjoyed running, cycling and triathlons. The Eastern Shore Running Club posted a photo on their Facebook page sending their condolences to Schultheis’ friends and family.
“Pictured below finishing strong at the St. Paddy’s Day 5K this year, Rob was the kind of runner who gave his all at every race. He was a leader in our community and the kind of person who helped everyone…When we lace up our shoes to get in those miles, I don’t think any of us think that our next run might be our last. While you #runforRob please be safe, and please come home. Godspeed.”

Ben and Savannah Schultheis College Fund
Robert Schultheis’ brother, Paul Schultheis, created a college fund for Roberts 2 children, Ben and Savannah.
Paul wrote,
“Suddenly on October 16, 2015, Ben and Savannah lost their father in a tragic accident while out running. Rob also leaves behind his wife of 7 years and best friend Shannon. Rob’s family has started this fundraiser to help with Ben and Savy’s college expenses. We plan to invest the money raised to help them cope at least financially with this terrible tragedy that has changed thousands of lives forever.”
Currently, the goal of the fund is $75,000. Many supporters of this fund have expressed the great amount of lives Schultheis had touched and how much he will be missed. To donate, click here.
Public viewings will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, from 2- 4 p.m. and 6- 8 p.m. at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. The funeral is Friday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Salisbury.
