Three Cape Henlopen High School Seniors Are MLB Draft Prospects
Three Cape Henlopen High School students have the attention of pros, in fact they are major league baseball draft prospects.
102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus is hanging out with them on the ball field today to learn all about their exciting futures ahead.
The three boys just signed to colleges on National Signing Day on Nov. 7. Cape Henlopen Seniors, Zack Gelof signed with the University of Virginia, Austin Elliot signed with the University of North Caroline, and David Erickson signed with Liberty University.
The boys have been playing together their whole lives whether on the same team or in the same leagues. Cape Henlopen is the only school in the country that has had three students from the same graduating class go to the East Coast Pro event in Florida. Zack said the event is where 400 major league scouts watch all the athletes play baseball for a week.
Austin says they have had college coaches and MLB scouts watching them play baseball for the past few years so the event was no different. The boys have been contacted by MLB teams and more MLB scouts will be watching them play baseball during their senior year of high school this spring.
