Virtual Screenings of the 2020 Ocean City Film Festival Start April 10
Creative Director for the Ocean City Film Festival (OCFF), William “B.L.” Strang-Moya posted a video on social media announcing that his organization will begin “virtual screenings.”
Every Friday, starting on April 10th at 7 PM, OCFF will live-stream on Facebook one film from OCFF’s lineup this past season. The 2020 season culminated in several screenings at movie theaters, hotels and nightclubs in Ocean City back in early March. Those screenings occurred just prior to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has now shut down all movie theaters, hotels, bars and nightclubs in Ocean City and throughout Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.
As a result, larger Hollywood companies have turned to the Internet to recoup losses and still provide entertainment for people who have been ordered by state governments to shelter-in-place or simply stay-at-home. Those larger, Hollywood companies charge a cost usually higher than the average ticket price. However, OCFF’s virtual screenings will all be free.
The Friday screenings will continue until June 5th. In addition, on Saturday, April 18th at 7 PM, there will be a special, virtual screening of a half-dozen films from OCFF’s lineup this year. Many of the films selected for the Friday night screenings were award-winners at the festival. The Saturday screening will consist of other highly rated films from this past season.
