Dr. Daniel Lane, Delmarva Chiropractic, says they like people to lay on their backs and sides, instead of their stomachs. He said when you sleep on your stomach, you are reversing the natural curves in your spine and as people grow older, they will notice that sleeping on your stomach is uncomfortable.
If you sleep on your side, you want to have your legs parallel to each other, so a pillow in between your legs will help. Dr. Lane also says you need to keep your head parallel with your body so your neck is straight and not bent. You can purchase a contour pillow, or roll up the end on your own pillow to keep your spine and neck aligned.
