You think you are okay because these things don’t have your social security number on it, but according to identitytheft.info, your name alone can be a start for an identity theft. They can put the pieces together.
These things can help put their puzzle together:
- Where you bank
- Your doctor
- Who holds your mortgage
Sussex County Federal Credit Union holds several big shred events throughout the summer. They hold them for their community to help prevent identity theft. The community brings old bank statements, tax returns, and medical papers to Sussex County Federal Credit Unions shred event where these documents are secure and they get shredded in a huge cross shredder, so the pieces cannot be put back together.
