SBY Restaurant Week Back for Third Year
Seventeen restaurants in the Wicomico County area will be showcasing two to three-course fixed price menus for lunch or dinner between Monday, April 10 and Sunday, April 16. Not only is this an opportunity for patrons to try out new dishes, it’s an opportunity for chefs to experiment with new items.
“Restaurant Week is a great opportunity for chefs to showcase their talents and highlight their best dishes,” said Sophia Smecker, organizer of SBY Restaurant Week. “There is some true talent here in Wicomico and foodie or not, everyone can appreciate a delicious and creative dish.”
Director of Events for the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Lauren Alfes mirrored those thoughts saying this event helps restaurants and chefs really try to challenge themselves to create something new and different. Alfes also said the week will try to bring something new to the table of the Salisbury community.
“This is a great event that’s just something different for the community,” Alfes said. “What’s nice is there are always new restaurants here that are great to try.”
Besides the typical menus, special menus have been created by the restaurants specifically for Restaurant Week. Foods such as chicken fried shrimp and grits at Reign, wild salmon chesapeake at Fratelli’s Italian Restaurant and even sous vide flank steak at Roadie Joe’s, will be just a few of the items being offered as part of the multiple course menus.
Other restaurants are offering other special items on their menus as opposed to the multiple course options. Specific Gravity and others will be offering daily specials as part of their menus instead.
Patrons also will have a little incentive to try and reach all the restaurants this year.
Alfes said this year there is a unique idea that will be taking place for customers dining in at restaurants.
“We have a sort of passport checklist where you go to different restaurants and mark off which ones you’ve been to,” Alfes said. “At the end we collect them and have a drawing, so it’s a fun way to have people get out and try different places.”
