Rescued Pups Make Their Way Home from Wicomico County Humane Society
The adoption center at the Wicomico County Humane Society opened its doors Wednesday at 11 a.m., and the line quickly began to trail out of the building.
Joy Luyster has been following along with the rescue since day one and has been waiting for the day to adopt.
“They’re living breathing creatures and they don’t ask to be brought into this world, you know, and they need to be treated with kindness and they have just absolutely been abused and they need a loving home, they need to be loved and they need to learn there’s a different way of life than the way they were being raised.”
Luyster was one of several dozen willing adopters walking, petting and playing with the Pomeranians. Although many of the dogs were timid, the tender love and support from the possible adopters was evident.
“It’s just been an unbelievable outpouring of love and affection for the shelter and for the animals and for everybody involved,” Steven Franklin, volunteer at the Wicomico County Humane Society, said. “People just came across like you wouldn’t even believe.”
