What’s Happening Today – July 18, 2017
Today on DelmarvaLife:
It’s relieving to know that there are people on Delmarva who are working every day to give a helping hand to the people within their community. The Christian Shelter Inc. works as a temporary emergency refuge for those individuals in need of a helping hand, nutritious meals and spiritual direction. The Shelter hopes that with their help they will be able to make a life-changing impact to people in crisis. Bryan Murfee and Ted Evans join us in the studio to talk about it at five.
Also at five, we tell you about a revolutionary institute opening it’s second set of doors here on the Peninsula. To tell us more about the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute in Ocean Pines, is Dr. John Mansueti and Dr. Feras Abdul Khalek. They tell Jimmy and Lisa how the new center will bring PRMC’s comprehensive cancer services to Worcester County, along with the research and expertise to the new facility. To learn more about the new institute and when the cutting-edge treatments will be available, tune in at five.
If you love animals, then you’ll love to hear about this upcoming event. In a few weeks, there will be an event in Dewey Beach called “Run for the Paws“. All proceeds raised at the event will go directly to caring and finding homes for local shelter pets. If that doesn’t get your tail wagging, maybe the post party at Starboard Restaurant will be the perfect treat. Joining us to talk about the event is animal foster mom, Cheryl Crowe. She has all the details and some of her fluffy co-workers on DelmarvaLife.
Peach pie is one of those classic baked dishes that many like to enjoy during the summer. Here to recreate the widely known dessert is “Panini Princess” Rebecca Hill. It’s another mouth-watering segment that you’re not going to want to miss on Delmarva Life at 5pm!
Peach Pie Instructions:
Equal parts sugar and water
Half the amount of corn starch gelatin
Add to flavor (peach, strawberry) depending on pie.
Pre-bake crust
Fill crust
Chill and top with whipped cream.
Most of us would agree that seafood is way better when it’s all you can eat. Tomorrow all of Delmarva is welcome to enjoy just that at the 41st Annual J. Millard Tawes Crab & Clam Bake– Maryland’s Largest All-You-Can-Eat Seafood Festival. Visitors can enjoy Steamed Blue crabs, Steamed Corn, Raw Clam Bar and many more. Learn More about it today on Delmarvalife at 5.
