Adam Furry with Central Delaware Chapter of Ducks Unlimited says this shoot has been one of the largest Ducks Unlimited shoots in the country for the past 5-6 years. They are looking to have a big turn out again this year.
“We have about 200 pre-registered to shoot,” Furry says. “We’re looking for 350 by Sunday – maybe more.”
Registration starts at 8:30 am at the clubhouse and shooting starts at 9 am. Participants must be on the course by noon. The cost is $65 per adult shooter and $45 for Greenwing (17 and under). The price includes 50 targets, Ducks Unlimited membership, lunch and beverages, Lewis Class prizes, and attendance gun.
Participants shoot at 50 targets with a shotgun how well they do determines top prize winners.
Furry says they offer a great lunch as well catered by Smokin D’z Real Pit BBQ. Steamed oysters and wings are on the menu!
There are a lot of great prizes as well. There are gun prizes for 5-Lewis Class and 4-Deep as well as 1st place Greenwing and 1st place ladies. There are other prizes and activities as well. There is a silent auction, gun raffle, and long bird game.
The winners who earn a gun prize can choose between many different guns such as shotguns, rifles, and pistols. Furry says at this shoot, they let the winners pick out their own gun, which is different from other shoots.
“Top score gets to pick first,” Furry says. “I call them up and I don’t just hand them a gun. They pick it right out.”
