The Ocean City Film Festival, showcasing 138 films from regional and international filmmakers in a variety of genres, makes its inaugural debut Thursday, June 8.
Founded in 2017, the Ocean City Film Festival is a collaboration with the Art League of Ocean City to integrate visual media into the artistic community of Ocean City and surrounding regions.
The 4-day festival kicks off with a VIP party on the rooftop of the Monte Carlo on Thursday. Meet the filmmakers and enjoy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.
The film festival will feature a diversity of film themes created by local, regional, national and international filmmakers, including natives from the Eastern Shore. Filmmakers Torrez Wise, director of ‘The Scare” and Dan O’Hare, director of “Rehearsal” are both from the town of Salisbury. Films will including animation, horror, comedy, drama, social commentary, and foreign genres.
In addition to the films, the festival includes workshops geared toward current and future filmmakers. On Friday, June 9 at 2 p.m., Dan O’Hare will present a workshop on creating films on a “micro budget.” Pre-registration is required.
The event closes with a wrap-up party at Touch of Italy, Sunday 4-6 p.m.
Tickets for the opening night party are $25, one-day passes available for $10, or purchase a $45 all-access pass for unlimited entry to film screenings plus the VIP party.
