New Year’s Eve Celebrations Across Delmarva 2019
It’s hard to believe 2018 is almost over and a new year is about to begin! Several towns and cities across Delmarva are ringing in the new year with ball drops and other festivities. Check out the list below for an event near you:
Berlin’s New Year’s Eve Celebration Ball Drop will get underway on South Main Street in the downtown area with a kids’ party starting at 5 p.m. with a ball drop at 6. Then at 10 p.m., dance the night away with DJ’s Big Al Reno & Schwab . Outdoor bar and entertainment begins at 10 p.m. with the main ball drop at midnight.
Chincoteage Island, Va.
Chincoteage Island, Va. will hold its New Year’s Eve – Pony Island Horseshoe Drop & Costume Promenade at 10:45 p.m. The celebration will take place at the Robert Reed Downtown Park. This year’s theme is “Superhero and Villians.”
The Pony Island Horseshoe Drop is an end of year celebration that culminates in a promenade of crazy costumes just before the countdown to the stroke of midnight. That’s when the lighted horseshoe drops just in time to ring in the New Year. Wear your favorite costume or just be a spectator. Prizes will be awarded in various categories.
On New Year’s Day at 1:19 p.m., the Polar Pony Plunge will take place on the beach at Assateague Island, Va. Plungers are encouraged to dress up in the zaniest, craziest costume they can come up with! Prizes await the best costumes in many categories, and more. Click here for more details.

Kent County Recreation and Parks will host its second annual new year celebration Saturday, Dec. 29 from noon-4 p.m. at the Kent County Recreation Center, located at 1683 New Burton Road. The event will feature live entertainment, fitness demos, moon bounces, sport instructions, and more. Again this year, the celebration will end with a balloon drop to make this a fun celebration to bring in the New Year for the whole family. Easton’s 25th annual First Night Talbot will be held 6 p.m.-midnight. In recognition of the value of healthy family alternatives to traditionally alcohol-related events, First Night Talbot is alcohol- and drug-free and the only First Night celebration in the state of Maryland. The celebrations, indoors in six downtown venues, lead up to the famous “Maryland Crab Drop” which happens twice during the evening. The 9 p.m. “Midnight in the Mid-Atlantic” Drop features a community parade of sea creatures and fish hats led by a bagpiper. Then there’s the traditional midnight countdown with fire juggling – always a popular photo-op. A full program of events will be available online by Saturday, Dec. 15. Admission into every event for the entire evening can be made by purchasing an artful, collectible “25th Anniversary Crab Button”. Advance Sales: The Country School will sell Crab Buttons (wonderful stocking stuffers!) as they do free gift wrapping in the “Smokehouse” behind the Bullitt House on S. Ocean City, Md.
The resort town will hold its New Year’s Eve celebration and fireworks show at Northside Park on 125th Street to celebrate both the beginning of 2019 and the 26th annual Winterfest of Lights, which also wraps up on Dec. 31. The fireworks display, which will begin promptly at midnight, will be accompanied by live entertainment, warm hot chocolate, and the opportunity to ride through the Winterfest of Lights. Princess Anne is inviting the public to its NYE Midnight Muskrat Dive on Somerset Avenue. The family-friendly celebration will be held 9 p.m.-1 a.m. with Marshall P. Muskrat, contests, live music, food and spirits and fun. Downtown merchants and vendors will be open.
Rock Hall, Md.

The annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop is an all-ages, family-friendly community event that will be held from 9 p.m.-midnight at the intersection of Main and North Division Streets in downtown Salisbury. Live music from AMP Studios and the Tops Cut Off DJ Team, plus giveaways.
Ball drop and confetti and midnight. Beer, wine and champagne will be available for purchase outside, and local food trucks will be on-site. Free parking will be available in lot one and in the parking garage.
