Millville Features Local Entertainment & Cuisine During Great Pumpkin Festival

‘Tis the season for pumpkin decorating, fall entertainment and local cuisine in the great outdoors.
The 6th Annual Great Pumpkin Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in Millville, Del. The quaint Sussex County town located between Roxana and Ocean View aims to be community and family oriented, much like the annual festival.
“It’s something the town wants to put on for the community, local restaurants and vendors and to give back,” Matt Amerling, executive assistant with the Town of Millville, says.
The four hour event helps kick off autumn in the small town, offering free fun for the whole family. During the event, kids can enjoy games, pony rides, bounce houses, rock climbing walls and pumpkin decorating.
Among the many vendors at this years event are Hockers BBQ, Hooked Up, The Point Coffee House and Bake Shoppe and Drift’n Kitchen Food Truck. Drift’n Kitchen is currently celebrating one year of business and they’re excited to get into the Millville area.
“We wanted to get involved with some events that are closer to home from us,” Kirstie Tomko, owner of Drift’n Kitchen, says. “We’ve been traveling with the truck and we wanted to get in touch with people closer to us.”

In addition to local cuisine, music will be provided by The Funsters, a ten-piece band that plays anything from Frank Sinatra to The Rolling Stones, The Beatles to Al Green.
Dozens of vendors will be attending, selling a variety of products from clothing to jewelry to crafts. There will also be a collection box set up for the Stockings for Soldiers drive. Amerling calls it fun for the whole family.
“It’s one of those events that dates back to the days of a town fair, a community event and a good fun time,” Amerling says.
