Author Chris Beakey of Lewes stops by the studio to talk about his thriller novel, “Fatal Option.”
“Fatal Option” was published Feb. 21, 2017. The story is about a father who does a bad thing for a good reason. Chris says “it’s a story about choices people make under desperate conditions.”
“Fatal Option” is the second book Chris has published. However, it was not a simple road to get to where he is now.
Chris had to write three books before he could get an agent to sell his first novel, “Double Abduction,” in 2007. He says even if it may have taken awhile, the benefit of those three books is they taught him how to write.
“I was learning how to write by writing,” Chris says.
After Chris publishes a book, he says the most important thing to him is connecting with readers. He says he really wants them to think about what they would do in the main characters situation.
“I really want to connect with readers. It took me six years of writing this,” Chris says. “Once the work is done, you wonder if it’s connecting with people. When someone picks up this book and reads it, I want them to reach out to me and give me their feedback.”
Chris is working on a new thriller and hopes to be finished with it by this time next year.
