Charlie Moore Passed Away – Our condolences to the family of WWII veteran and life-long Denton resident, Charles Moore. He was a well-known businessman and public servant in Caroline County. He ran a funeral home that was started by his father and is still ran today by his son. Moore also served as judge of the orphan’s court and register of wills for Caroline County.
UMES & Bill Cosby – Actor and comedian, Bill Cosby, was given an Honorary Degree Award in 1998 from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Several other colleges and universities are also trying to figure out how to respond to allegations of sexual assault by sixty or more women against Cosby. UMES President, Juliette Bell, expressed disappointment over the allegations and said the university officials are currently evaluating options.
State of the Union – President Barack Obama will deliver his final State of the Union Address tonight. The White House says the President will focus on larger challenges facing the country instead of the typical laundry list of policy proposals. Coverage kicks off at 9 p.m. on WBOC.
Dorchester Center for the Arts – Want to be a little more creative or artsy? The Dorchester Center for the Arts is now accepting registration for its winter session. Classes fill up quickly, so be sure to sign up early.
Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast – Mark Mero is the keynote speaker at the event. Mark has a compelling personal story of tragedy and triumph with a high-energy show using music, visuals, and video.
