In Queen Anne’s County, if your little one likes to draw, here’s a great project. The annual Month of the Young Child poster Contest is underway. Kids ages 2-8 draw a poster to answer the question: “I can help the world by…” Alexis Lyerly, 7, won last year.
Copies of the winning posters will be distributed around the country as part of the month of the young child celebration in April. There are two divisions, and the winner in each division will receive a $50 gift card.
Participants are asked to complete the following sentence: “I wish I could …” and draw a picture to illustrate their answer. For children too young to write legibly, an adult may print what the child says on the poster for them. Posters are to be designed on a regular 8 x 11 piece of paper. Children may use markers, crayons, colored pencils or paint.
Children should place their name, age, address, phone number and the name of their school or day care center on the back of their entry.
Entries may be dropped off at local elementary schools, county libraries, child care centers, the Judy Center Partnership or at the Bay Times. The deadline for entries is Feb. 22.
